After completion, as I stood before it, I could see this figure coming out of the mist and the word "Prevailing" came to me. It uses its superpowers to prevail against all odds.
Detailed Notes
This is the companion piece to the Spirit Guardian painting I did in May.
Twenty years ago in Manchester, Connecticut at Manchester Community College in 2D Design class, an idea for two paintings began.
During one project we were to select a drawing to make a completely new design from. Of all things, I selected the Skunk card from the Animal Medicine deck I was using at the time. The message of the skunk felt true to where I was spiritual.
Using tracing paper to draw around the skunk drawing, I found pleasing shapes. I loved the process of finding shapes that I liked, then hooking their lines up with other shapes that I found intriguing. Two drawings were created from the original design. One was an interior of the design I created, used for Spirit Guardian. The entire design is the inspiration for this companion painting, Action Hero, which I've now titled "Prevailing."
Journaling brought me to the realization of the Skunk message and many words flowed across the page such as protector, guardian, and hero. This painting is called Action Hero (my working title) because of its bulk, it reminds me of an action hero one might see in the movies or in a comic book.
