Digital Media Images July 2014

In this video you will see every digital media image I created on my phone during the month of July 2014. From trees to mountains to sun to light to butterflies and birds to bold colors, I hope you find this visually entertaining.

Most of them are available as prints. The metal print option is my current favorite. The colors and finish are amazing.

Last Chance Prints Three Part Series Vortex Vista Voyage

Process

I created them using Adobe Illustrator. It was a complex process of creating shapes, colors, and duplicating.

I was investigating transparency, repetition, and pattern. Each shape that you see was created. Even the overlapping shapes were created and colored to appear that they were transparent. This was a tedious and time-consuming project that took me months to complete. I was totally fascinated by it. A story began telling itself over the creation of these three pieces.

Part 1: Vortex

This first image is called Vortex because of the invitation to step through to another dimension of reality. Are you ready to experience the energy beyond the vortex? Prepare for what lies ahead. Step through the doorway to another world.

Part 2: Vista

Vista, part two, allows the viewer a glimpse of what lies beyond the doorway of the Vortex. The vista is mysterious, mystical. What do you see? Where will the vista take take you after you enter the doorway of the vortex? Vista is what is imagined to be beyond the Vortex. Have you the courage to see?

Part 3: Voyage

Voyage is where you go after entering the Vortex and seeing the Vista. You have been enticed to go further. You have embarked upon Voyage, the journey of your personal awareness. You are becoming conscious of your life and what is going on. Is it spiritual, is it real, is it physical? What is your Voyage? It is all energy, after all. Sail the seas of energetic bliss or energetic hell. It is your choice.

Creating Phone Art

I love creating art on my phone. I began creating phone art in January 2013.

The first app I used was called PaintJoy, recommended to me by an artist friend. I used that app for an entire year. For the past month or so, I have delved into the app called PicsArt. I am really enjoying this app!

I have moved on from doing paintings and drawings from a "blank canvas" to beginning my phone artwork with a photograph as my foundation. This has opened up a whole new way of creating. It allows me to pull in images from various sources.

One of my favorite techniques is using masks. I begin by bringing in a photograph and applying 2-4 different masks. Then, I begin adding images in varying transparencies. Sometimes I will draw and paint on the image as it evolves. My intuition kicks in, I tap into the flow of the zone as I create them. I like the unique look of these images. They are becoming to be more like short stories where the imagination can take flight.

These techniques require me to touch the screen with my fingers. I don't have a tablet or pen to draw with. So, my fingertips do just fine. In this way, I feel that it is still hand-crafted.

Highlights of My June Phone Art

I completed and published my Wisdom Painting website today. That was quite a project! Perhaps I will get back to my fine art painting really soon.

Here are some favorite phone art images that I created in June. I create them almost daily, sometimes 2-3 per day. I have been receiving good feedback on most recent creations. Let me know what you think.
