Unique Clothing Designs with My Art

Silk Sleeveless Top: Butterfly Light

Online Clothing Store with My Art Designs

I took the plunge and said yes to designing for the online clothing store, Vida. I had received many emails asking me if I wanted to design for them.

I did a little research beforehand to see if Vida was a good company. It appears that they are, so I have gone ahead and put up a few designs.

I love the clothing designs they offer and it is thrilling to see my artwork on them. They are printed, to order, overseas, so expect your order to take 6 to 8 weeks, or longer, to get to you.

Another artist friend has put her artwork up on Vida before I did, so, we are conversing to see how it's going with each other. She has ordered scarves a while ago and has not received the scarves yet, but she has already received a commission check for her own order! I like that. Show me the money!

Holding positive vibes for this venture. Clothing anyone? Go shopping now for a unique look.

New Acrylic Abstract Painting: Inspired by Village Grind

Inspired by the Village Grind Coffee Shop
36 x 48 x 1.5 inches, Acrylic on Canvas.
Copyright 2016 Mary Gravelle AKA Braylee Rush
I completed one of the paintings in process from last week's post. The painting I began outdoors at the 2nd Saturday Art Walk is completed for now. I will let it sit. I'm not sure about the colors, especially the green. It might be too yellow. I'll see how it sits. For now, it's done!

What do you think?

    Two Paintings in Process

Ready to painting at 2nd Saturday Art Walk.
The musician and lighting folks are setting up
    for the evening's musical performance.
I'm working on two abstract paintings right now. They are both 36 x 48 x 1.5 inches on canvas.

The first one, I began last week, is a mixed media painting. So far, I have used paper, pine needles, a stick, and many acrylic skins. It's sheer process and loads of fun!

The second painting began Saturday night at the inaugural 2nd Saturday Art Walk in Sedona Village [of Oak Creek]. I was inspired by the backside of the Village Grind, a coffee house at the Collective Sedona. I'm loving how it's turning out so far. I think it's quite different than any other painting I have done since I don't typically paint buildings or architecture. There was music playing about an hour into the painting. I could feel the vibe of the music flowing with the paint. It was fun to paint outside on green grass.

I'll show you how they both end up in next week's blog post. That gives me a week to finish them both.

    Have a lovely week.

My imagination can picture no fairer happiness than to continue living for art.

Dream Inspired Painting Series Based on Geometric Shapes as Light Source

    Triangle as Light Source
    36 x 36 x 1 Inches, Mixed Media on Wood. $1,550
    Copyright 2009 Mary Gravelle.

    Inspired Painting Series

Several years ago, I had a dream of geometric shapes as light source. I did a series of three paintings with this theme and idea of geometric shape as light source. It was a vivid dream when I was dreaming, but, as with most dreams, it faded when I wanted to recall the paintings.

    Triangle

The first of three paintings in that series was the triangle since I have a love affair with the triangle. This was fun to paint and required many layers of paint and acrylic medium. The technique used is one of put on and then take off, sanding between layers.

It must really be seen in person to enjoy the colors and texture. I would love to sell this painting to the right person.

    Circle as Light Source
    36 x 36 x 1 inches, Acrylic on Wood. $1,400.
    Copyright 2009 Mary Gravelle.

    Circle

The 2nd in the series was the circle. This one was much more challenging for some reason. I used only acrylic paint on this one.

    Square

The final painting in the series was the square. It was more fun than the circle. And it took a different turn than the triangle and circle. I used much gel medium along with acrylic paints.

    Square as Light Source
    48 x 48 inches, Acrylic on Wood, $2,800.

What do you think of this series?

New Mixed Media Painting The Accidental Landscape and Process

The Accidental Landscape, 12 x 24 Inches, Mixed Media on Wood.
Copyright 2016 Mary Gravelle aka Braylee Rush
I just completed this mixed media acrylic painting over the weekend. It has been in process for a couple of months.

It began as an experimental painting and continued to be experimental and intuitive until its completion.

One day, I cleaned and organized my studio. You know what that means, don't you? The unexpected, that's what! Some elements that were not supposed to go together, got stuck to each other. Thus, the Accidental Landscape began its evolutionary turn.

The painting in process got stuck to the papers I was using in the process and another piece of wood that I was going to gesso for a separate painting. I couldn't unstick them without damage.

In the meantime, I was experimenting with making acrylic skins and creating a class around them. So, I used this painting as a demo piece to show what could be done with the skins after making them. I used three acrylic skins on this painting, along with found objects, and the paper you see curled up in the "sandwich."

    Process 1. The Accidental Landscape.

    Process 2. The Accidental Landscape.

Process 3, the unexpected. The Accidental Landscape.
