Phone Art to Canvas

Painting 2, Phase 3-5

I am enjoying painting my new series based on my phone art application paintings.

I loved my first phone art painting. Now, I love my 2nd painting more.

What do think so far? Do you enjoy seeing the in-process photos? Or would you rather wait and see it completed?

Night Photography of an Almost Full Moon – the Guru Moon

Backyard Night Landscape

Night photograph taken by photographer, Mary Rush Gravelle,
depicts an eerie and moody backyard scene of Amercicana Southwest.
I just realized that I like to create dark and moody photographs. This is the opposite of my paintings, which are light and happy.

This month's moon is being referred to as Guru Moon of the Golden Age, according to OMTimes Media ezine, which says:
"The upcoming Full Moon that falls on July 21st PDT is incredibly powerful. Some would even say it will be the most powerful Full Moon of this century.
Commonly known as the Full Moon of the Guru (Guru Purnima in some cultures), this is the first Full Moon of the Guru of the Golden Age.
"Guru" means the Remover of Ignorance or Supreme Teacher.
Unlike other Full Moons, this one offers the most energetic support to connect with the wisdom of Ascended Masters of Enlightenment."

There is something about this month's moon, for sure. It has been tantalizing me with its beauty and mystery over the past three nights. I cannot help but photograph it.

Last night was especially fun as I experimented with a 1600 ISO setting while playing with the manual functions on my camera. I am delighted with the outcome. These are but a few of the photos from last night's session.

Photograph by photographer, Mary Rush Gravelle, was taken while the
moon was half full during the upcoming guru moon of the Golden Age.
It glows with anticipation of what is to come.
Do you like any of these photographs? Have you encountered this moon yet and had similar experiences?

Behind the Mysterious Dark There is Light

Lurking behind the mystery of the dark thicket of our minds,
one must realize that there is light on the other side.
Getting beyond it and into the Light is the challenge.

Oh, this one is truly great! I love this style, Mary!

In this week's blog, I focus on what a few of my fans are telling me about my art. It might be time to take my art more seriously, devoting more time and attention… and action toward its success.

I truly love making art and yet, it seems something inside me does not believe that I can prosper by creating art. So, maybe if I listen to what others are telling me about my art, it will propel me forward and deeper into my own positive belief.

Thank you to these fans for appreciating and talking to me about my art. It is deeply appreciated.

Read the captions underneath each work of art for comments on my art and those particular works.

I think it would make great prints for doctors, dentists offices. Childrens wards in hospitals. Childrens bedrooms. Sunrooms, anywhere you want something really bright and cheery…Really, you've never thought of this? I've been thinking it for a long time.
…I think you could have a market for your art. I keep calling it happy. But it is… it's also fairylike… and sorta magical. I wouldn't put it in my living room… but kids would love the bright colors and the fantasy of it." -- MMT

"Absolutely love seeing your art!" --BS

By the way Mary... I just want to say that I love your art. It is so bright and fun. Have you done anything with it as far as selling it? …Like I've said before, I think your art would be wonderful in hospitals, especially in childrens wards. It's so happy. …"

"Mary, they need people like you. ...what I mean by they need people like you is that everthing that can be done to promote healing, or even just a pleasant place for someones last days is a gift. Your art is brilliant, colorful. I look at it, and it makes me happy. I think that it could have the same effect on others.

 … "
"...And it has been proven that good thoughts and such can be healing.

Sooooo, your happy art could help save lives... That's why I think you are necessary!

 …"

"Mary… just looked at your [Mary's Fine Art Facebook] page. Do you even begin to understand what you could do?" --MMT

So, to the readers of this blog post… what do you think? Do you agree with what the others have been saying about my art? Do you have any suggestions, contacts, or leads to share with me? How can I expand my art market? I welcome all of your comments.

#1: Triangle as Light Source.

A dream showed me geometric shapes as light source. I painted three: triangle, circle, and square. Obviously, this is the triangle.

#2: Magical

Moving to the Southwest in 2006, I was inspired to do a series of the magical landscape of Oracle, Arizona. I painted nine different paintings of that place. This one is of the land where I housesat for three months. It was a great introduction to the wide open expansiveness of this landscape. This series was shown at RLV Gallery in Oracle, AZ in February, 2007.
Magical, 34 x 48 inches, Acrylic on Wood.
Original resides In the artist's collection.

#3: Summer's Song

I moved to Silver City, New Mexico in the fall of 2006. Another series evolved of that landscape, which differed from Oracle, Arizona. I did about 16 paintings of this landscape. Some of them were shown at College Avenue Collection in Silver City, New Mexico in the October of 2008.
