Phone Art Flower in Process Painting Phase 7

April 29, 2013. Phase 7.

During this painting session, I devoted my time to the purple in the background.

This painting is winding down almost to completion. It is in the stage of spending more time contemplating the next move than painting. This is the stage where I do not want to overdo it lest I ruin it or create dissonance.

If I do either of those two options, I will spend my time working to bring it back to life. Occasionally, it creates a better painting. Sometimes, it really creates a lot of stress and agonizing.

I prefer not to go over the edge, but sometimes I do, like I did with my Sir Kitty at Home painting. I spent a lot of time bringing it back from the dead. I wish I had not taken it that far.

I prefer to leave some unfinished pieces to the painting, like rough edges or such. I believe this helps add breath and life to the painting. Otherwise, I could push it to its demise and create a dead image. Perfection can go either way… either give it strength or seal its coffin.

The original image came from an image I created on my android phone in an app called PaintJoy.

How do you like it so far? Are there any places on this painting that you love?

Here is my latest progression on my Phone art painting, session six.

The background shapes are becoming more defined. Notice the lower right hand corner where squarish shapes are now forming. The background colors are becoming more muted.

What do you think so far?

Photo Shoot: Flamenco Rehearsal

Group Shot, photography, 4000 x 3000 pixels, 180 ppi.

Last night, my friend, Barbara Schuessler, aka "La Flamencista", enlisted my help in photographing her rehearsal for a Flamenco dance performance. I'm not sure if my photographs do her work or her dancers justice, however, today I will share a few photos from last night's session. Perhaps, I'll share more next week. Enjoy.

This painting is taking on a life of its own now.
It is breaking away from the original digital
phone art painting.

From Phone Art to Painting

This painting is coming along. It has decided to breakaway from the digital version. I'm still working on it. What do you think so far?

April 5, 2013. Phase 5. Phone Art Flower Painting,
Acrylic on Canvas, 36 x 36 x 1.5 inches.

This painting is serious about being a painting and
not a digital image. I'm having fun with paint again.

Phone Art Flower In Process Painting

Last week, I was resisting painting. This week, I am painting the painting that was wanting to be painted. Here it is in-process thus far. The original idea came from a painting I did on my Android app called PaintJoy. I received good feedback on it so I decided to make it a real painting.
